Butchfest is a weekend-long celebration of lesbians and queers who identify as tomboys, butches, studs, machas, aggressives, bois, genderqueers, transmen, two-spirits, and all other identities masculine of center (MoC*). Join us for fabulous entertainment, intimate conversations, sexy erotica, and incredible parties as the queer community comes together for a whole weekend of MoC love.
The weekend will kick off with Panty Raid’s “Beauty and the Butch” variety show, featuring a vast array of queer talent, including live music, burlesque, drag, spoken word, queerlesque, comedy, and more. We have special out of town guests as well as local talent, and, as always, we’re bringing some fresh faces to the stage.
On Saturday, participants are invited to come together for the BUTCH Voices Community Conversations, which will offer safe spaces and open spaces for collaboration and exploration. The direction of these conversations will be determined by the participants and the product of those conversations will inform the planning of the national BUTCH Voices conference.
Saturday evening we’ll be celebrating the written word with Dirty Panties: A Queer Erotica Reading, held at VerLes Dallas. Enjoy live music and original written work performed by local and national authors.
Later on Saturday, join us for the Unicorn Party, a play party featuring an indoor pool, snacks, music, and entertainment. Please note, this party has limited capacity, so don’t wait to sign up.
* Masculine of center (MoC) is a term, coined by B. Cole of the Brown Boi Project, that recognizes the breadth and depth of identity for lesbian/queer/womyn who tilt toward the masculine side of the gender scale and includes a wide range of identities such as butch, stud, aggressive/AG, dom, macha, tomboi, trans-masculine etc.
